Leah King

LEAH KING is a vocalist, musician and producer from Brooklyn and San Francisco. Though she played bass in punk bands for years as a teenager, Leah got her career in music started by singing original rockneosoul songs with an acoustic guitar at open mics in New York City. To pay her bills, she also danced as a go-go/promotional dancer for high-profile concert venues, club nights, modeling agencies, and music videos. This led to her founding membership in a hugely popular burlesque company (Brown Girls Burlesque) where she dazzled audiences with routines full of comedy, vocals, and theater.

After moving to Berlin in 2012, she launched Leah King Live - a Soul Electronica act combining a live drummer with vocal looping, analog synthesizers, and deep soul. She has since performed at Prince Charles, SO36, Fete de la Musique, Perspectives Festival, Listen Up! Festival, 100 Grad Fest, Bar Tausend, Soho House, White Trash Fast Food, and toured internationally in Prague, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, and Vienna. Her solo performance art work combines visual art, live sound, and dance to comment on sex and power in the music industry. Her new EP is expected Spring 2015.
